Two Day Workshop on “ENERGY EFFICIENCY IN RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS”

Bureau of Energy Efficiency conducted a series of workshops on the topic Energy Efficiency in Residential Buildings along with GIZ & SDC, In this regard, the 3rd workshop is conducted in Lucknow on 27- 28th June 2019 at Renaissance Hotel Lucknow, to disseminate three Topics on :
(i)Eco-niwas Samhita Part-1-Implementation
(ii)Eco –Niwas Samhita –Part -2 Consultation Session
(iii)Star label for energy efficient homes
& also Building Energy Efficiency Labeling among various Stakeholders.

The two day workshop was attended by PROF. KESHAV KUMAR, AR.DEEPTI SAGAR and AR.ANKITA BAJPAI of School of Architecture & Planning, BBDU.

The challenge in terms of soaring energy consumption in the housing segment is needed to be tackled with a multi-faceted approach. Making houses energy efficient is certainly a way of avoiding a long term futile electricity consumption liability in residential buildings. This program helps the country in the same direction by designing an energy efficient residential labeling system.
Ministry of Power has launched Eco Niwas Samhita 2018 on 14th December 2018, which prescribed the minimum energy performance through energy efficient envelope design. The proposed labeling program takes forward Eco Niwas Samhita 2018 and motivates consumers to move forward to design more efficient construction. Energy labels help consumers to make efficient decisions through the provision of direct, reliable and costless information. The workshop was attended by about 120 participants covering Architect Associations, Developers, PWDs, Town & Country Planning
Department, LDA, Ministry of Energy of Uttar Pradesh & Govt. officials from 5 other states. The program was inaugurated by Sh. Sushil Kumar Patel, Director, UPNEDA and the session was concluded by Honorable Minister UP Government Shri Brijesh Pathak delivering a valuable speech on needs of energy efficiency and motivating the team.
