NATIONAL CADET CORPS

The National Cadet Corps is the world’s largest uniformed youth Tri-Services Organization, comprising the Army, Navy and Air Force, engaged in grooming the youth of the country into disciplined and patriotic citizens.

  • We are running One Platoon of 55 Cadets Senior Division, Army Wing in Our University under 67 UP Bn NCC, Lucknow.
  • The objective of NCC is to train volunteer youth to become confident, committed and competent leaders in all walks of life.
  • We are the one amongst the State Private Universities providing a platform to students for their enrolment in NCC along with their course curriculum.
  • The 1st year Students of  UG courses can enroll in NCC for three years and after successful completion of 2 and 3 Years of their training, they will be provided with the NCC B and C-Certificate respectively.
  • In order to reward the students and to compensate them for the valuable time they spend in NCC training, a number of incentives are being given by the Central and the State Govt’s to them. These incentives can broadly to categorize under the heads:

  • Concessions in Employment
  • Concessions in Academic Field
  • Cash Awards and Prizes/Medals/Trophies

AIM OF NCC

The ‘Aims’ of the NCC laid out in 1988 have stood the test of time and continue to meet the requirements expected of it in the current socio–economic scenario of the country.

  1. The aim of NCC is to develop qualities of Development of Character, Comradeship, Discipline, Leadership, Secular Outlook, Spirit of Adventure, Sportsmanship and Ideals of Selfless Service amongst the Youth of the Country.
  2. To Create a Human Resource of Organized, Trained and Motivated Youth, To Provide Leadership in all Walks of life and be Always Available for the Service of the Nation.
  3. To Provide a Suitable Environment to Motivate the Youth to Take Up a Career in the Armed Forces.

MOTTO OF NCC

The need for having motto for the Corps was discussed in the 11th Central Advisory Committee (CAC) meeting held on 11 Aug 1978. The mottos suggested were “Duty and Discipline”; “Duty, Unity and Discipline”; “Duty and Unity”; “Unity and Discipline”. The final decision for selection of “Unity and Discipline” as motto for the NCC was taken in the 12th CAC meeting held on 12 Oct 1980.

The three colours in the flag depict the three services of the Corps, red for the Army, deep blue for the Navy and light blue for the Air Force. Army Attachment Camp provided NCC cadets with hands-on experience in military life. The camp featured drills, tactical exercises, and training led by military personnel, aiming to enhance discipline, leadership skills, and camaraderie among the cadets.

Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the 75th anniversary of Independent India was celebrated at BBD University. The term “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” translates to “Amrit Mahotsav of Independence,” where “Azadi” means freedom and “Amrit” signifies the sweetness or essence of this freedom. Hon’ble Chancellor BBD University hoisted the National Flag followed by National anthem. The program ended with a rally in which the NCC Cadets, volunteers of NSS, Security Guards and Students actively participated with great enthusiasm and energy.

Earth Day is an annual event celebrated worldwide on April 22nd to demonstrate support for environmental protection. The NCC cadets of BBD University raised awareness about environmental issues like pollution, deforestation, and climate change, encouraging individuals and communities to take action to protect our planet. The earth day pledge was also taken by the cadets. Earth Day promotes sustainable practices, conservation efforts, and advocacy for policies that prioritize the health of the Earth and its inhabitants. It serves as a reminder of our collective responsibility to preserve and cherish the natural world for future generations.

The NCC Enrollment at Babu Banarasi Das University in 2023 was a noteworthy event, attracting a new batch of enthusiastic students ready to embrace the values of the National Cadet Corps. The enrollment process was marked by a strong turnout, with students eager to join the ranks and commit to the principles of discipline, leadership, and service to the nation. Senior officers and experienced cadets addressed the new recruits, sharing insights and inspiring them with the mission and vision of the NCC. The 2023 enrollment not only expanded the NCC family at BBD University but also reinforced the cadets’ dedication to contributing to the country’s development through active participation and leadership.

The NCC cadets of BBD Universityhave participated inan event organised by Narcotics Control Bureau, Lucknow at Marine DriveGomti Nagar, Lucknowto create awareness aboutglobal drug problem andillegal drug trade on the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, also known as World Drug Day, is observed annually on June 26th. This day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1987 to raise awareness about the global drug problem and to promote efforts to combat drug abuse and the illegal drug trade. TheNCC cadets of BBD University participated actively in all the events and to spread awareness among people against drug abuse.

To empower women, NCC BBD University organized Karate Session for females under “Mission Shakti” at BBD University Campus. “Mission Shakti” aimed at strengthening interventions for women’s safety, security, and empowerment. Self-defence is an integral aspect of martial arts. By engaging in meditation and mindfulness, women learn to become focused while still facing challenges. Let’s invest our significant time, energy, and determination in the practice of martial arts. The female showed great interest in the self-defence session also spread the knowledge about importance of self-defence for females.

The BBD University organised a Mega Walkathon on Road Safety Awareness in collaboration with Vishalakshi Foundation and67 UP Bn NCC, Lucknow on 30 July 2023 at Janeshwar Mishra Park. The NCC Cadets of BBD University and Volunteers of NSS BBD University have participated in the Walkathon with full enthusiasm and determination. The Chief Guest of the event was Hon’ble Minister of Transport, Government of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Daya Shankar Singh Ji. The above event was graced with presence of dignitaries from different domains.

The Department of National Cadet Corps, BBD University celebrated the Rashtriya Ekta Diwasin collaboration with 67 UP Bn NCC, Lucknow to pay tribute to the ‘Iron Man of India’. The National Unity Day or Rashtriya Ekta Diwas is celebrated every year on 31 October to commemorate the birth anniversary of ‘Iron Man of India’, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The Unity Run was organized on 31 October 2022 from 07:00 to 08:00 AM followed by Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge in BBD University campus.

NCC BBD University organized a nukkad natak on the Theme “Female rights and women empowerment” in BBD University campus to encourage the women and to spread awareness amongst female. Women empowerment refers to making women powerful to make them capable of deciding for themselves. It’s a mission which encourages women to be self-reliant. By working together and adopting a multi-faceted approach, we can empower women and create a better future for all. The NCC cadets of BBD University have participated with great enthusiasm.

An awareness campaign was organized in regard to the World Awareness Day on Food Waste Under ‘Swachhata Hi Sewa’ on 29September 2023 by BBD University in collaboration with 67 UP Bn NCC, Lucknow. The NCC Cadets have organised a rally in the university campus to create awareness among the students against food wastage. World Food Day primarily focuses on global food security and hunger issues; it often includes discussions and awareness efforts related to food waste because food waste is intricately linked to food security and sustainability. The NCC Cadets have actively taken part in Swachhata Hi Sewa Campaign with full enthusiasm and sense of responsibility. Their continuous efforts for making the society aware about the burning issues are really appreciable.

NCC BBD University conducted a seminar based on female rights in the conference Hall University building on 20th of October 2023. Where Dr. Gunjan Srivastava, Assistant Professor, School of Legal Studies had a discussion about equality, protection, economic independence and equal participation of women in politics and private sector. When women and girls get full access to their rights then only they will be able to enjoy a life of freedom.

Utkarsh 2023 at Babu Banarasi Das University showcased student talents through cultural performances and competitions. A key highlight was the NCC cadets presenting a precise Guard of Honors (GOH) to the Hon’ble Chancellor, BBD University. This display of discipline and dedication was acknowledged by the Hon’ble Chancellor, emphasizing the NCC’s values of leadership and service. The event celebrated creativity and the strong spirit of the NCC.

The culminating day three was dedicated to a Model United Nations (MUN) session focused on the “Vikshit Bharat @2047” agenda. The NCC cadets took on the roles of diplomats and representatives, engaging in thought-provoking discussions and debates on strategies and policies that could propel India towards comprehensive development. The MUN provided a platform for participants to brainstorm innovative solutions and foster a sense of collective responsibility among the youth towards the nation’s progress.

With the beginning of Mission Shakti 4.0, The NCC cadets of BBD University conducted an Awareness drive in Village Uttardhauna on the Topic-“Female Hygiene and Female Rights”. The NCC cadets of BBD University went door to door to empower the women in rural areas, Strengthening Interventions for Women’s Safety, Security and Empowerment. When we empower the women in a family, we empower the entire household. Mission Shakti 4.0 this year focuses on demolishing all the social taboos and misconceptions about Female and their rights and health issues.

A Blood Donation Camp was organised by BBD Universityin Loving Memory of our Founder Chancellor Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta Ji under the aegis of Akhil Jyot 2023.Donating blood can help other people to maintain good health or allow them to stay alive. There may also be benefits of blood donation for the donor.The NCC cadets of BBD University have actively taken part in the blood donation camp and donated blood in loving memory of our founder Chancellor.

The NCC Enrollment at BabuBanarasi Das University in 2022 was a significant event, marking the beginning of a new journey for aspiring cadets. The enrollment process attracted numerous students eager to join the National Cadet Corps, reflecting their enthusiasm for discipline, service, and leadership. The event included an introduction to the NCC’s values and objectives, along with motivational speeches by senior officers and cadets. This enrollment drive not only added new members to the NCC family but also fostered a sense of unity and purpose among the cadets, as they prepared to embark on their journey of personal and national development.

The NCC Cadets of BBD University joined the online event of Felicitation of Veergatha Awardees on 25 January 2023 with full enthusiasm and great zeal. The event was organised by the Ministry of Defiance and Ministry of Education to felicitate the Veergatha  Awardees from across the country. Veer Gatha project was launched to inspire the school children, by making them aware with the stories of war heroes and brave hearts. In the aforesaid event NCC Cadets, Volunteers of NSS, and Students of BBD University joined the event in online mode.

NCC BBD University and Team Dainik Jagran Conducted an inspirational talk on the topic female rights and education in the Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta auditorium. The talk session was done by “Ms. Swati Chaudhary,Assistant Police Commissioner, Gomti Nagar,Lucknow”. She inspired and talked with volunteers and students on various topics such as Cyber bullying,faith on police officers and many social taboos.Rights and Education are like two pillars of society to make it a developed and prosperous society.Women’s rights are vital for equality. When women have the same rights as men, societies are fairer and more balanced. Let’s together protect and promote women’s rights worldwide.

International Yoga Day, celebrated on June 21st every year, aims to raise awareness about the benefits of yoga. The NCC cadets of BBD University participated enthusiastically in the International Yoga Day to raise awareness among the society about the benefits of Yoga. The day emphasizes the importance of yoga in achieving a healthier lifestyle and fostering global harmony and peace. Events worldwide typically include yoga sessions, workshops, and discussions highlighting yoga’s role in maintaining health and well-being.

The ‘Know Your Army Festival,’ organized at the Surya Sports Complex in the cantonment, was an engaging event aimed at fostering a deeper connection between the general public and the Indian Army. Deputy Public Relations Officer, ShantanuPratap Singh, informed that the festival featured an extensive exhibition of Army weapons and equipment, including the T-90 and T-70 tanks, Akashvani artillery gun, 9 Vajra, Weapon Locating Radar Swathi, and the 155mm artillery gun. Additionally, modern machine guns, pistols, rocket launchers, uniforms, and other military gear were displayed. The event provided an opportunity for the public to learn more about the Army’s capabilities and the advanced technology that supports national defense.

A very big and grand millet rally was organized by NCC Headquarters Lucknow under NCC Directorate Uttar Pradesh in collaboration with one of its units, 67 UP Battalion NCC and BBD University.In the rally NCC cadets went door to door and informed all the citizens about coarse grains and the harm caused by eating fast food and junk food and also made the public aware about the benefits of millet grown in our country. The NCC cadets also talked about the contribution of coarse grains (millet) in strengthening the health of our children. In the end, Colonel Puneet Srivastava, Commanding Officer of 67 UP Battalion NCC, congratulated everyone for successfully organising the program.

Road safety is critically important for several reasons, as it helps protect human lives, reduces injuries, and has numerous societal and economic benefits. The NCC Cadets have actively taken part in the Road Safety Awareness Rally with full enthusiasm and sense of responsibility. Their continuous efforts for making the society aware about the burning issues are appreciable.

The BBD University organised the Swach Bharat Abhiyan in collaboration with 67 UP BN NCC Lucknow at Janeshwar Mishra Park. The event was conducted to make the society aware about the importance of cleanliness and the necessary measures to be taken by the society towards cleanliness. In the above event under the umbrella of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan; The NCC Cadets have participated with finest spirit of enthusiasm, dedication and determination.

The Swachhata Pakhwada Rally is a coordinated effort in India to advance cleanliness and hygiene standards through a series of activities and events. The NCC cadets created awareness among people about the importance of personal hygiene, proper waste management, cleanliness of public spaces. Health and hazards of poor hygiene initiative, conducted during the Swachhata Pakhwada involves organizing marches and walks to advocate for cleanliness, sanitation, and effective waste management practices. The rally serves as a platform to engage participants in promoting a cleaner environment and fostering a culture of cleanliness and hygiene within schools, colleges, government offices, and communities. It plays a crucial role in reinforcing the importance of cleanliness and encouraging active participation in maintaining a hygienic environment.
