On the occasion of National Science Day – 28 February
National Science Day is celebrated to honour the spirit of scientific inquiry and innovation in India. In alignment with the University Annual Fest “UTKARSH” (theme “Virasat se Vikas Tak”), the Science Club of the School of Basic Sciences proposes the theme “Virasat se Vikas Tak: Science for a Sustainable and Self-Reliant Bharat” to highlight the transformative journey of Indian science from its rich traditional roots to modern technological advancements.
India’s scientific heritage—ranging from ancient mathematics, metallurgy, medicine, water management, and astronomy—continues to inspire contemporary research and innovation. By integrating indigenous knowledge systems with modern science, India is progressing towards sustainability, self-reliance (Atmanirbhar Bharat), and inclusive development.
In Science Expo, through a Working Science Model Competition and Poster Making Competition, students are encouraged to showcase how traditional wisdom can be scientifically validated, adapted, and scaled using modern tools and technologies to address present-day challenges such as energy security, environmental sustainability, healthcare, agriculture and smart infrastructure.
The event aims to foster scientific temper, creativity, interdisciplinary thinking, and innovation among students while celebrating India’s journey from heritage (Virasat) to progress (Vikas).
