The Department offers undergraduate, postgraduate & Ph.D programs and is also running different domain-specific specialized programs to fulfil the needs of skilled professionals as per market demand. The goal of department is to provide transformational education that produces a skilled workforce of researchers and innovators of tomorrow with intellectual and technological resources. Our commitment and dedication are to focus on experiential, cooperative and project-based learning that allows our students to continue to adapt, grow and succeed in solving real-world problems. The Department is proactively involved in Outcome-Based Education & Choice Based Credit System to enhance inter-disciplinary competence and leadership skills among our students in a global perspective.
Our experienced faculties from premier institutes bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the classroom. Their vast industry and teaching experience coupled with their research, and skill-based training by industry experts allow our students to not only receive professional teaching but also the opportunity to work alongside their faculties on research areas of their interest.
The Department facilitates students in creating different clubs and societies/students-chapters at department level under the supervision of faculties for their holistic development through Experiential Learning. Students are helped in organizing different extra-curricular, technical activities and industrial visit etc. where all students can participate in fulfilling their dreams and broaden their horizons outside classrooms.
The department of Civil engineering at BBD University is part of one of the biggest group of educational institutions in Uttar Pradesh. With the advanced technology and the best faculties the department provides the best learning aid for the undergraduate students. The department has highly qualified and experienced faculties along with research facilities provided by the department gives the postgraduate students a better environment. As far as the development of students is concerned the department is not only concerned with the enhancement of academic knowledge of the student but also with the overall development so as to make the student competent enough to survive in the professional world and be a better person.
The undergraduate course offers complete knowledge in the field of civil engineering apart from basic science knowledge. Teaching process includes well equipped laboratories along with computer centre and seminar halls which help in grooming a student to a perfect engineer. Conduction of site visits and survey camps helps to make student familiar with the practical knowledge.
The postgraduate programs runs in various disciplines i.e. includes; structural engineering, environmental engineering, transportation engineering. All the facilities are provided to the students in the form of laboratories and computer access so as to carry out their research at their best. Students are encouraged to attend seminars and workshops essential for their particular discipline.
The department has well equipped lab facilities for all the streams i.e. transportation, environment, surveying, fluid mechanics and hydraulics, geotechnical and geoinformatics , structure lab. We even have availability of all the software necessary for Drawing.

Research Thrust Areas
- Structural Engineering
The major research areas under this specialization include structural dynamics, bridge engineering, performance based seismic design, system identification & structural health monitoring, seismic damage assessment, finite element mesh generation, optimization, retrofitting of structures, spectral finite element methods.
- Environmental Engineering
The major research areas under this specialization include air quality modelling in urban transport and industrial environment, environmental noise modelling, water quality modelling, biodegradation of industrial wastewater, removal of heavy metals from wastewater, sludge treatment by physicochemical and biological process.
- Transportation Engineering
The major research areas under this specialization include Pavement Maintenance Management Systems for various categories of roads, Rheological properties of Paving Bitumen including modified binders, Mechanistic empirical structural design of pavements using various stabilized layers, Development of road safety methodology using sustainable design facilitating NMT and pedestrian traffic, Transportation planning and traffic impact studies
- Water Resource Engineering
The major research areas under this specialization include meso-scale distributed hydrological modelling, satellite remote sensing and GIS for water resources management, computational river hydraulics and its applications, watershed and irrigation management, flow through porous media, stochastic sub-surface hydrology, rainfall modelling, modelling& simulation in free surface flow, heuristic method in reservoir optimization, GIS based watershed modelling, Dam Break Analysis.
- Geotechnical Engineering
The major research areas under this specialization include soil behaviour, shallow and deep foundations, reinforced soil structures, landslides, constitutive modelling, soil dynamics, analysis and design of machine foundations, engineering seismology, wave propagation, seismic site characterization, seismic soil-structure interaction, seismic stability of slopes and retaining walls, design of offshore foundations, field instrumentation and testing, ground improvement techniques, geo-environmental engineering.
