WHY LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE

Landscape Architecture is a discipline that works across a variety of creative ideas, living systems, physical materials, and future potential. It is about envisioning, investigating, and suggesting better ways of living in a complex and changing world. The demand for specialization in Landscape Architecture is ever increasing in both the Urban and the Rural sectors. In the past, Landscape Architects were known as designers of gardens and parks. Today Landscape Architects are continuing this tradition, but have also extended the field to include Planning, Design and Management of several aspects of the physical environment. They are also specialists in site Planning, which require the proficiency of an architect and also thorough technical knowledge of soils, structures and services. Lucknow, with a great history of amalgamation of landscape design into urban fabric, is an ideal place for studying in the Post graduate programme. 

The Degree offer students an interdisciplinary setting to complete a specialized formation, integrating theoretical-critical knowledge and professional skills in the field of Landscape design to a variety of scales, providing the skills to collaborate with other professional figures in the fields of Architecture, Engineering, and Natural Sciences. This aims at imparting proficiency in landscape assessment and design techniques by employing ecological principles while keeping in view socio-economic and cultural considerations. The future landscape architects, graduated from our institute, shall be versatile in the various aspects of practice, strengthened with an environmental ethic, design development, project management at multiple scales, communication, emerging technologies, ethical conduct, as well as relevant areas of research.

PO6 The Architect, Planner and Society: Applicationof contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal andcultural issues and the consequent drafting of proposals relevant to theprofessional practice.
